Olet’te Pinot Noir
2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir “Red Label”
Our Olet’te Red Label Pinot Noir defines the character of Russian River Valley terroir while also reflecting the versatility of the region. Russian River Valley’s morning fog and cool coastal breezes create ideal growing conditions for cool-climate varietals like our Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes Bright nose of cherry and plum lead the way to plush berry flavors, cocoa and spice aromas. Toasty vanilla oak rounds out the bouquet. Cherry and plum fruit flavors offer a balanced and elegant finish. This very approachable wine offers soft tannins and gentle oak midpalate, with a silky lingering finish.
Vinification The wine was fermented in open topped stainless steel tanks, with daily punch downs for color and flavor extraction. After fermentation the wine was pressed to barrel for aging in French oak (30% new).
Location The grapes from this wine come from three well known Russian River Valley vineyards including Passalaqua. Conditions The 2012 growing season was just about perfect, both in yield and quality. A mild winter and spring without frost led to a warm but not extreme summer. An ideal fall allowed flavors to develop at relatively low sugar levels. The resulting wines are precocious yet very nicely balanced.

Olet’te Pinot Noir
2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir “English Hill Vineyard”
Tremendous Pinot Noir fruit from the flawless and ideal 2013 growing season realizes this delightful 3rd vintage of Olet’te Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Grapes were harvested from the English Hill Vineyard and were gently extracted during fermentation on native yeast. The wine was then aged for seven months in 30% new French oak before bottling.
Tasting Notes Bright ruby color, this wine offers intense floral and raspberry aromas. In the mouth the wine has a good intensity with darker earth flavors and bright raspberry fruit. Fine tannins add structure and balance to a long finish.
English Hill Vineyard English Hill Vineyard grows on a hilltop in Southern Sonoma Coast AVA. The narrow-spaced vineyard is a mosaic of nine Pinot noir plots, one Chardonnay and one Syrah. Overlooking Tomales and the Marin Coast Range, weather is turbulent and exposed at this site. On summer mornings Pacific fog engulfs the vineyard, covering the foliage with vital ocean mist. Afternoon winds dry the canopy and deposit flecks of soil in folds of the leaves. Late August heat draws moisture from the ground, forming cracks in the sandy-clay loam. Each wine from this vineyard carries a clear mark of its far coast origin.
